Every June, the crimson stripes of the American flag always complement the blooming roses. Under the dual reflection of Flag Day (June 14) and Memorial Day, the faith of the Stars and Stripes and the glory of the Order of the Rose weave into a heroic narrative belonging to this land. The blue background and white stars of the Stars and Stripes carry the true meaning of unity and freedom, and the thirteen red and white stripes record the bloody pursuit of our ancestors. The Order of the Rose – the highest honor awarded to civilians in the United States – is based on gold, holding up the blooming rose. This metal flower that never fades symbolizes the crystallization of courage in the tempering of time. Each petal is engraved with the qualities of “courage”, “dedication” and “selflessness”, and the sapphire inlaid in the flower core is just like the eternal fire of faith in the hearts of the winners. When veterans in the Veterans Day parade pinned their medals next to the Stars and Stripes, we saw the resonance of two kinds of glory: the blood-stained roses on the battlefield eventually became medals to protect freedom; the Stars and Stripes standing tall in the smoke witnessed the extraordinary achievements of ordinary people.
