The 104th Annual meeting of Lions Clubs International was held in Montreal

From June 24 to 28, 2022 local time, the 104th Annual Meeting of Lions Clubs International was held for the first time offline in Montreal, Canada, after two years of online activities. Lions from over 110 countries and regions attended the annual meeting.
On the morning of July 25, the international parade, the highlight of the annual conference, began. In Ste-Catherine O, one of the busiest streets in Old Montreal, thousands of lions lined up and dressed up as they do every year. The lions in District 303 were joined by a local lion dance troupe. Director of Lions Club International Zhang Kwok-yun, former director of Lions Club International Liu Xiaogang, director candidate Huang Chang-wei, Chairman of Lions Club International and Chinese Lions Association Annual Meeting Committee Dong Shi-ge, Hong Yu-ying of Lions Club Tea Service Team and her family attended the parade. More than 10 people attended the parade.
In the evening, the “Domestic Reception and Dragon Night Dinner — Good Work under the Sun” hosted by the Chinese Lions Association was held at Jin Feng Restaurant in Chinatown. The banquet held 20 seats. Chinese Lions from all over the world, some invited leaders of the association and foreign Lions gathered together. While sharing the delicious food, they made a joint commitment to fully support the candidacy of Huang Changwei, the candidate for the International Board of Governors. Representing more than 30,000 members of Lions Clubs in China and the Mainland, Wong Chang-wei is the face and voice of the country. The lion friends on the two sides of the Taiwan Straits and three places talked about the lion love, the host and the guest were happy. Xiong Yuying and Li Shixiong, Vancouver District Director, presided over the evening, and Dong Shige, chairman, was responsible for the overall coordination of the evening.
The conference officially opened at the Bell Center on November 26. Following a warm up performance by Shine and Floyd Smith of The 5th Dimension, Douglas Alexander, President of Lions Clubs International 2021-2022, gave an enthusiastic speech thanking the Lions for their efforts over the past two years. Ms. Valerie Plante, Mayor of Montreal, delivered the welcoming remarks. In particular, the meeting invited the German Lions who helped refugees during the war this year to talk about the rescue process and pray for world peace.
President Douglas Alexander announced the close of Action 100’s four-year campaign, which raised $324,687,263 in the hope that the funds will help more people in need.
During the meeting, International Director Zhang Kwok-kwan was awarded the President’s Medal, the award of over 100,000 US dollars in donations and the title of Global Goodwill Ambassador, the highest award of Lions Clubs International. The Shenzhen Lions Club Walking Service Team won the 500% Mau Man Chung Service Team Award. Congratulations to the excellent Shenzhen Lion Friends and service team!
At the closing ceremony of the annual meeting, the newly elected President, Vice President and International Council members for the year 2022-2023 were announced. Lions Clubs International 2022-2023 President Brian Sheehan introduced the annual slogan “Together we can.” The candidate of the Domestic Lions Federation, Brother Wong Chang-wei, has been elected as the International Director of Lions Clubs International for 2022-2024. To much fanfare, hundreds of governors-elect from around the world took office.
