في الثالث من نوفمبر من كل عام، يوم العلم الإماراتي، يُرى المواطنون في شوارع دبي يحملون إطارات صورٍ من زهور القطيفة. هذه القطعة البسيطة تُعبّر عن روحانية البلاد بطريقة فريدة. العلم الوطني بألوانه الأحمر والأخضر والأبيض والأسود مُطعّم بإطار ذهبي، مُحاط بأزهار القطيفة المُتفتّحة. هذه الزهرة البرية التي تنمو في الصحراء تتمتع بحيويةٍ مذهلة – حتى في درجات حرارةٍ عالية تصل إلى 50 درجة مئوية، لا تزال بتلاتها الصفراء الزاهية تتفتح كالنار، تمامًا كشجاعة شعب الإمارات العربية المتحدة في غزو الصحراء. يتماشى الإطار الذهبي لإطار الصورة مع الحكمة العربية القديمة القائلة بأن “كل شيءٍ مُترابط”، مُرمزًا إلى التعايش المُتناغم بين القبائل والمعتقدات والثقافات المُختلفة في وطنٍ واحد. كحاوية، يُمثّل إطار الصورة حدًا وجسرًا في آنٍ واحد. يُجسّد العلم الوطني ذو الألوان الأربعة رمز السيادة في الإطار، لكن أغصان زهرة القطيفة تبرز بعناد، تمامًا كأجنحة هذا البلد الفتيّ الذي يتمسّك بالتقاليد ويحتضن الابتكار. عندما يُعلّق الأطفال إطارات الصور التي صنعوها بأيديهم تحت شجرة النخيل، فإنهم لا يرثون مهارة الصنع فحسب، بل يرثون أيضًا فلسفة البقاء المتمثلة في “البحث عن الاختراقات داخل الإطار” – تمامًا مثل الكون في الصحراء، بجذوره المتجذرة في التربة، وأغصانه وأوراقه تطارد الشمس. يُنشئ إطار الصورة الذهبي هذا حوارًا أبديًا بين الرمال والنجوم. يُذكّر كل مواطن إماراتي بأن القوة الحقيقية تكمن في العزيمة على حماية الأساس والشجاعة لشق طريقها عبر الأرض.

Every year on November 3, the UAE Flag Day, citizens holding marigold photo frames can be seen on the streets of Dubai. This seemingly simple object tells the spiritual code of the country in a unique way. The red, green, white and black national flag is inlaid in a golden frame, surrounded by blooming marigolds. This wild flower growing in the desert has amazing vitality – even at a high temperature of 50°C, its bright yellow petals still bloom like flames, just like the courage of the UAE people to conquer the desert. The gold edging of the photo frame is in line with the ancient Arab wisdom that “everything is linked together”, symbolizing the harmonious coexistence of different tribes, beliefs and cultures in a common home. As a container, the photo frame is both a boundary and a bridge. The four-color national flag fully displays the symbol of sovereignty in the frame, but the marigold stubbornly sticks out its branches, just like the wings of this young country that both adheres to tradition and embraces innovation. When the children hang the photo frames they made by hand under the palm tree, they inherit not only the craftsmanship, but also the survival philosophy of “seeking breakthroughs within the frame” – just like the cosmos in the desert, with its roots deeply rooted in the soil and its branches and leaves chasing the sun. This golden photo frame builds an eternal dialogue between the sand and the stars. It reminds every UAE citizen: true strength lies in the determination to protect the foundation and the courage to break through the ground.
