Nisan ayında İstanbul sokaklarında hilal şeklindeki bayraklar ve laleler, mavi gökyüzünün altında parlak bir şekilde parlıyor. Şehir, baharın yeniden doğuşunu “Lale Festivali” ile kutluyor, meydana serpiştirilmiş ulusal bayrak renkli fotoğraf çerçevesi enstalasyonları, kırmızı ve altın rengi iç içe geçmiş geometrik desenleriyle Türk halkının kanında ve kemiğinde yatan inançlarını dünyaya anlatıyor. Lale yaprakları şeklinde olan bu fotoğraf çerçeveleri sadece bir dekorasyondan ibaret değil. Hilal-yıldız bayrağının koyu kırmızısı ile lalenin altın sarısı rengini sonsuzluğa dönüştürüyorlar; her bir kenar Osmanlı işçiliğine bir övgü niteliğindeyken, yayın her bir santimi Avrupa ve Asya’ya yayılmış bir medeniyetin dayanıklılığını özetliyor. Fotoğraf çerçevesinin yüzeyine işlenen lale deseni, 16. yüzyıl Osmanlı minyatürlerindeki hayat totemine gönderme yaparak, tarihin uzun ırmağında yaşanan ihtişam ve acıyı somut bir imgeye dönüştürüyor. Fotoğraf karesi başlı başına bir milletin manevi kabıdır. Tıpkı lale soğanlarının kışın soğuğunda derinlere gömülüp çiçek açacak gücü biriktirmesi gibi, Türkler de ay-yıldızlı bayrağın temsil ettiği özgür iradeyi ve lalenin sembolize ettiği küllerinden yeniden doğuşu bu küçük alanda bir araya getirip mühürlemiştir. Turistler fotoğraf çekmek için durduklarında, fotoğraf çerçevesi geçmişi ve geleceği birbirine bağlayan bir zaman makinesine dönüşüyor: Çerçevenin içinde hiç solmayan memleket ve ülke özlemi, dışında ise büyüyen yeni bahar. Fotoğraf karesinde donmuş bu nisan ayında Türkler en şiirsel biçimde kanıtladılar: Gerçek sonsuzluk, mükemmelliği korumakta değil, inancın lale soğanları gibi olmasına izin vermekte yatar; laleler, donmuş toprağın derinliklerine gömülmüş olsalar bile, belli bir bahar gününde fotoğraf karesinin sınırlarını itebilir ve göğe doğru yeni bir yay çizebilir.

In the streets of Istanbul in April, the crescent-star flag and tulips shine against the blue sky. The city is celebrating the revival of spring with the “Tulip Festival”, and the national flag-colored photo frame installations scattered throughout the square are telling the world the faith in the bones and blood of the Turkish people with geometric patterns interwoven with red and gold. These photo frames shaped like tulip petals are by no means simple decorations. They melt the deep red of the crescent-star flag and the golden color of the tulips into eternity – every edge is a tribute to the spirit of Ottoman craftsmen, and every inch of the arc outlines the resilience of civilization across Europe and Asia. The tulip pattern engraved on the surface of the photo frame coincides with the life totem in the 16th-century Ottoman miniature painting, condensing the glory and pain in the long river of history into a tangible image. The photo frame itself is a spiritual container of a nation. Just as the tulip bulbs are buried deep in the cold winter but accumulate the power to bloom, the Turks seal the free will represented by the crescent-star flag and the rebirth from the ashes symbolized by the tulip in this small space. When tourists stop to take pictures, the photo frame becomes a time machine connecting the past and the future: inside the frame is the everlasting desire for home and country, and outside the frame is the new spring that is growing. In this April frozen in the photo frame, the Turks use the most poetic form to prove that true eternity does not lie in sealing perfection, but in letting faith be like tulip bulbs, which, even if buried deep in the frozen soil, can push open the borders of the photo frame on a certain spring day and bloom a new arc towards the sky.
