ทุกๆ เดือนตุลาคม สีแดง ขาว น้ำเงิน ของธงชาติไทย โดดเด่นด้วยแสงแดดอันอบอุ่นในช่วงปลายฤดูฝน สีแดงเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของแผ่นดินและความกระตือรือร้นของผู้คน สีขาวแสดงถึงความบริสุทธิ์ของพระพุทธศาสนา และสีน้ำเงินเปรียบเสมือนท้องฟ้าที่ได้รับการปกป้องจากราชวงศ์ ร่วมกันทอพื้นเพทางจิตวิญญาณแห่ง “ความสงบ” ของชาตินี้ ที่เขี่ยบุหรี่ช้างไม้สักแกะสลักอยู่ในร้านช่างฝีมือแห่งหนึ่งในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ กำลังขัดเงาอย่างประณีต ส่วนโค้งที่โค้งงออย่างอ่อนโยนของงวงช้างช่วยรับเถ้าถ่านที่ร่วงหล่นเอาไว้ได้ และปุ่มไม้ที่ขรุขระก็กลายเป็นริ้วรอยบนผิวหนังของช้าง สร้างชีวิตใหม่ให้กับไม้ที่อาจกลายเป็นขยะได้ คนไทยมีความเชื่อว่า การที่เขี่ยบุหรี่สามารถแปลงเถ้าถ่านที่เผาไหม้ให้กลายเป็นงานศิลปะได้นั้น ความผิดพลาดในชีวิตก็สามารถกลายมาเป็นสารอาหารที่ช่วยสั่งสมสติปัญญาได้ เดือนนี้ถือเป็นวันครบรอบการปฏิรูปของพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว เมื่อพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงผสมผสานประเพณีเข้ากับความทันสมัยเข้ากับประเทศไทยยุคใหม่โดยมีจิตวิญญาณของคณะช้างที่ข้ามป่าโคลน ปัจจุบันตามท้องถนนกรุงเทพฯ มีร้านกาแฟที่มีที่เขี่ยบุหรี่เพื่อสืบสานปรัชญา “เปลี่ยนดินเป็นความบริสุทธิ์” และยังมีกลุ่มวัยรุ่นทาสีสามสีธงชาติบนถุงรักษ์โลกเพื่อฝึกฝนการคิดสร้างสรรค์อีกด้วย ฉันทลักษณ์ช้างใช้รอยเท้าเปิดทางสู่ป่า ฝุ่นละอองในที่เขี่ยบุหรี่ทุกจุดกำลังบอกเราว่าความแข็งแกร่งที่แท้จริงไม่ได้อยู่ที่การหลีกเลี่ยงความเจ็บปวดอันแผดเผา แต่เป็นการคงไว้ซึ่งพลังที่จะยึดมั่นต่อความหวังหลังจากถูกเผาไหม้

Every October, the red, white and blue colors on the Thai flag always stand out with the warm sun at the end of the rainy season. Red symbolizes the nourishment of the land and the enthusiasm of the people, white reflects the purity of Buddhism, and blue is like the sky protected by the royal family, together weaving the spiritual background of this nation’s “calmness”. In the workshop of Chiang Mai craftsmen, teak-carved elephant ashtrays are being carefully polished. The lightly curled arc of the elephant’s trunk just happens to receive the falling ash, and the rough tree knots turn into the wrinkles of the elephant’s skin, giving new life to the wood that might have become waste. Thais believe that just as ashtrays transform burnt ashes into a carrier of art, setbacks in life can also become nutrients in the precipitation of wisdom. This month coincides with the anniversary of Chulalongkorn’s reform. It was Rama V who, with the spirit of a team of elephants crossing the muddy jungle, melted tradition and modernity into a new Thailand. Today on the streets of Bangkok, there are cafes that offer ashtrays to continue the philosophy of “transforming turbidity into purity”, and there are also young people who paint the national flag’s three colors on eco-friendly bags to practice innovation. Just as an elephant clears a path for the forest with its footprints, every speck of dust in the ashtray is telling us that true strength does not lie in avoiding burning pain, but in retaining the power to hold on to hope after being burned.

每年十月，泰国国旗上的红、白、蓝三色总会随着雨季尾声的暖阳格外醒目。红色象征土地的滋养与国民的热忱，白色映射佛法的纯净，蓝色则如王室守护的苍穹，共同织就这个民族”泰然自若”的精神底色。

在清迈工匠的作坊里，柚木雕刻的大象烟灰缸正被精心打磨。象鼻轻卷的弧度恰好承接飘落的烟灰，粗粝树瘤化作象皮褶皱，将本可能成为废弃物的木料赋予新生。泰国人相信，如同烟灰缸将燃烧殆尽的灰烬转化为艺术品载体，生命中的挫折也能在智慧沉淀中成为养分。

这个月恰逢朱拉隆功改革纪念，正是拉玛五世以象队穿越泥泞丛林般的气魄，将传统与现代熔铸成新泰国。如今在曼谷街头，既有供奉烟灰缸的咖啡馆延续”化浊为净”的哲学，也有青年将国旗三色绘在环保袋上践行革新。正如大象用足印为森林开道，烟灰缸里的每一粒尘埃都在诉说：真正的强大不是回避灼痛，而是在灼烧后依然保有托举希望的力量。
