Vào tháng 9 tại Việt Nam, lá cờ vàng đỏ tung bay trên bầu trời xanh, ngôi sao năm cánh phản ánh ngọn lửa cách mạng tám mươi năm. Khi tro cốt rơi vào bình, cũng giống như vô số con người có nhân cách cao quý và lý tưởng cao cả trong những năm tháng cách mạng đã biến thành bùn xuân, chất dinh dưỡng tinh thần của họ nuôi dưỡng những nụ hoa mới nở rộ ngày hôm nay. Các họa tiết chồng lên nhau của cánh hoa sen gợi nhớ đến các cạnh sắc nét của ngôi sao năm cánh trên quốc kỳ. Sự kết hợp giữa cứng và mềm thể hiện trí tuệ sinh tồn được hình thành của dân tộc Việt Nam trong quá trình tôi luyện chiến tranh: vừa mềm dẻo của hoa sen, vừa cứng rắn như thép. Thiết kế hấp dẫn nhất của chiếc gạt tàn này là các lỗ thông khí hình ngôi sao ở phía dưới. Khi tàn lửa nguội dần, luồng không khí trong lành ùa vào từ các lỗ chân lông năm sao, giống như chính sách cải cách và mở cửa đã thổi sức sống vào vùng đất cổ xưa. Tro tàn lắng xuống đất màu mỡ và ánh sao soi sáng con đường phía trước, giống như Việt Nam ngày nay, trong làn sóng toàn cầu hóa, vừa bảo vệ cội nguồn văn hóa truyền thống vừa phát triển từ mặt đất với thái độ đổi mới. Vào ngày Quốc khánh này, khi nhìn vào cuộc đối thoại giữa quốc kỳ và gạt tàn, chúng ta hiểu được quy luật của cõi niết bàn phượng hoàng của một quốc gia: giữ lửa trong tro tàn và nhớ về cội nguồn khi nở hoa. Sự mặc khải vượt thời gian và không gian này đang dẫn dắt người Việt Nam thời đại mới tiếp tục viết nên huyền thoại truyền lửa.

In September, the red and gold national flag of Vietnam spreads out under the blue sky, and the five-pointed star reflects the sparks of the 80-year revolution. In this season of witnessing national independence, people often cast their eyes on the lotus ashtray on the desk – this artifact carrying cultural codes is telling the philosophy of survival that complements the national flag. The rounded shape of the lotus ashtray is just like the “bamboo spirit” advocated by President Ho Chi Minh. The hollow bamboo joints can bear a heavy load. The overlapping patterns of the lotus petals coincide with the sharp edges of the five-pointed star on the national flag. The combination of rigidity and softness interprets the survival wisdom formed by the Vietnamese nation in the tempering of war: it has the flexibility of lotus and the perseverance of steel. The most moving design of this ashtray is the star-shaped air hole left at the bottom. When the embers cool down, fresh air flows in from the five-star pores, just like the reform and opening-up policy injects vitality into the ancient land. Ashes settle into fertile soil, and stars illuminate the way forward, just as Vietnam today, in the midst of globalization, not only protects the roots of traditional culture, but also breaks through the soil with an innovative attitude. On this National Day, gazing at the dialogue between the national flag and the ashtray, we understand the code of a nation’s phoenix nirvana: keep the fire in the ashes, and remember the roots when blooming. This revelation across time and space is guiding the Vietnamese of the new era to continue writing the legend of passing on the spark.
