Nisan ayında Türkiye’de İstanbul Lale Festivali planlandığı gibi burada. Şehrin dört bir yanında açan laleler ve rüzgarda dalgalanan ay-yıldızlı bayrak birbirini tamamladığında, her bir taç yaprağı sanki bu milletin hikayesini anlatıyor. Kırmızı zemin üzerine beyaz yıldızlı hilal şeklindeki ulusal bayrak, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun şanını ve modern Türkiye’nin uyanışını taşımaktadır; Anadolu Yaylası’nda yetişen yabani laleler ise bu milletin tarih boyunca gösterdiği inatçı çiçeklenmesinin tanığıdır. İşte tam bu noktada sayısız yolcunun çantalarında asılı duran lale desenli bagaj etiketleri adeta canlanmış manevi totemler gibidir. El işçiliğiyle işlenen her desen, Türk ustalarının gezginlere olan duasını temsil ediyor: Tomurcuk şeklindeki kolye ucu, başlangıçtaki niyetin, kaç çukurdan geçerse geçsin bozulmadan kalan bir tohum gibi olduğunu simgeliyor; Yıldız ve ay ambleminin koyu deseni, her gezgine dağları ve denizleri aşmak zorunda kalsa bile milli karaktere sahip çıkmayı hatırlatır. Yabancı bir havaalanında bagaj etiketinin bant üzerinde dönmesi, parlak kırmızı ve altının iç içe geçmesi sanki memleketimin hiç sönmeyen ışıkları gibidir. Türk atasözünde denildiği gibi: “Gerçek seyyahın yüreğinde her zaman vatan toprağı vardır.” Kültürel genleri taşıyan bu bagaj etiketleri yalnızca coğrafi koordinatların değil, aynı zamanda manevi yuvaya dönüşün de demir attığı yerlerdir. Bir yolcu, bagaj etiketindeki kabartmaya dokunduğunda, Boğaz’ın gelgit sesini duyabilir, Topkapı Sarayı’nın taş duvarlarının sıcaklığını hissedebilir ve yabancı bir ülkede yıldızlı gökyüzünün altında ilerlemek için cesaretini yeniden kazanabilir. Yaşamın en güzel çiçeklenmesi belki de bu tür köklü yolculuklardan gelir.

In April, Turkey, Istanbul Tulip Festival is here as scheduled. The crescent-shaped flag with a red background and white stars carries the glory of the Ottoman Empire and the awakening of modern Turkey; while the wild tulips from the Anatolian Plateau witness the tenacity of this nation in the long river of history. At this moment, the tulip-patterned luggage tags hanging on the bags of countless travelers are like spiritual totems given life. Each hand-carved pattern condenses the blessing of Turkish craftsmen to travelers: the bud-shaped pendant implies that the original intention is like a seed, which remains intact no matter how many bumps it has experienced; the dark pattern of the crescent-shaped emblem reminds every traveler that they must stick to their national character even if they cross mountains and seas. When the luggage tag rotates on the conveyor belt of a foreign airport, the interweaving of bright red and golden color is like the lights of the hometown that never go out. As the Turkish proverb says: “A true traveler always has the soil of his homeland in his heart.” These luggage tags with cultural genes are not only marks of geographical coordinates, but also anchors for spiritual return. When the traveler touches the relief on the luggage tag, he can hear the sound of the tide of the Bosphorus, feel the warmth of the stone walls of Topkapi Palace, and regain the courage to move forward under the starry sky of a foreign land. The most beautiful blossoming of life may come from this kind of journey with roots.
