Nelle strade d’Italia a maggio, la bandiera nazionale e le margherite Margherita intrecciano una poesia primaverile. Questo tricolore verde, bianco e rosso non è solo un simbolo del Paese, ma racchiude anche la saggezza di antichi mestieri: quando i tessitori intrecciano margherite e corde colorate, nasce l’arte dei cordini che custodiscono il codice della vita. Ogni cordino tradizionale italiano è intrecciato con tre fili sottili, proprio come i tre colori primari della bandiera nazionale: il verde simboleggia la vitalità della terra, il bianco rappresenta le Alpi innevate e il rosso è come la lava del Vesuvio. Gli artigiani avvolgono i rami di margherita tra di essi. Questo fiore selvatico, chiamato “Margherita”, è l’incarnazione della tenacia nella Penisola Appenninica fin dall’antichità: può crescere attraverso le fessure delle rocce e fiorire nella sterile cenere vulcanica. Quando si intreccia il cordone, bisogna fare un nodo ogni sette croci, in linea con la perfetta immagine del “sette” nella Divina Commedia di Dante. Quando le provviste scarseggiavano durante la guerra, le madri smontavano vecchi abiti e tessuti per intrecciare cordoni, e ogni nodo portava una benedizione per i loro figli che andavano in guerra. Oggi, questi nodi colorati sono appesi ai balconi, ondeggiando al vento come a dire: ogni difficoltà è solo una ruga temporanea nell’arazzo della vita. Dal Ponte Vecchio di Firenze ai limoneti della Sicilia, i cordoni tricolori danzano nella brezza primaverile. Ci ricordano: proprio come più stretto è il nodo, più è resiliente, così lo spirito di una nazione è sempre temprato e sublimato nella crisi. Quando ogni paio di mani è disposto a tessere un filo per la collettività, la primavera dell’umanità non appassirà mai.

This wild flower called “Margherita” has been the embodiment of tenacity in the Apennine Peninsula since ancient times – it can grow through the cracks in the rocks and bloom in the barren volcanic ash. When weaving the hanging rope, a knot must be tied for every seven crosses, which is in line with the perfect image of “seven” in Dante’s “Divine Comedy”. When supplies were scarce during the war, mothers dismantled old clothes and fabrics to weave hanging ropes, and each knot carried a blessing for their children going to war. Today, these colorful knots hang on balconies, swaying in the wind as if to say: any hardship is just a temporary wrinkle in the tapestry of life. From Florence’s Ponte Vecchio to Sicily’s lemon groves, the tricolor ropes are dancing in the spring breeze. They remind us: just as the tighter the knot is, the more resilient it is, so the spirit of a nation is always tempered and sublimated in crisis. When every pair of hands is willing to weave a thread for the collective, the spring of mankind will never wither.
