They stroked the marble petals with their wrinkled palms: “Daisies can bloom in the cracks of rocks, and Italians can be reborn in adversity.” The bottom of the paperweight is engraved with Dante’s poem – “Your will must be as firm as a rock.” This ingenious work of art is reminding every Italian: real strength does not lie in crushing toughness, but in bearing pressure with an elegant attitude, so that ideals can always remain stretched like a suppressed page. When the sun shines through the tricolor flag and projects on the daisy paperweight, the marble exudes a pearly luster.
