ในแสงเช้าอันเย็นสบายของเดือนพฤศจิกายนในประเทศไทย ประชาชนต่างเอาฝ่ามือประสานไว้ที่อกและมองดูธงไตรรงค์สีแดง ขาว น้ำเงิน ที่ค่อยๆ ปรากฏขึ้น ธงที่พลิ้วไสวนี้เปรียบเสมือนความศรัทธาที่ไหลเวียนอยู่ในสายเลือดของคนไทย คือ ความกระตือรือร้นสีแดง ความตั้งใจดั้งเดิมสีขาวบริสุทธิ์ และความพากเพียรสีน้ำเงินเข้ม ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงแก่นทางจิตวิญญาณของเทศกาลช้างในเดือนนี้ เมื่อช่างฝีมือขัดเหล็กชั้นดีให้กลายเป็นไฟแช็กรูปหัวช้าง ทุกๆ ส่วนโค้งเว้าบ่งบอกถึงงานฝีมือของไทย ในวัฒนธรรมไทย ช้างเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความรู้และความเป็นสิริมงคล และเปลวเพลิงจากไฟแช็กก็เปรียบเสมือนพลังชีวิตที่ไม่เคยดับ เสมือนหนึ่งคนเรือที่ถ่ายทอดทักษะการพายเรือจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น ประกายไฟนี้เองที่ทำให้เกิดความกล้าหาญของคนไทยในการจุดประกายความหวังและส่องสว่างหนทางข้างหน้าเมื่อเผชิญกับความยากลำบาก ในวันก่อนวันลอยกระทง ผู้คนจะถือไฟแช็กช้างและจุดเทียนเพื่อขอพร แสงเทียนที่สั่นไหวส่องสว่างไปตามลองจิจูดและละติจูดของธงชาติ และเปลวไฟที่ยืนหยัดอย่างดื้อรั้นในสายลมยามค่ำคืน เหมือนกับท่าทีของประเทศที่ยิ้มแย้มเมื่อเผชิญกับความท้าทาย – ซื่อสัตย์และแกร่งเหมือนช้าง และมีพลังเหมือนเปลวไฟ เมื่อเทียนนับพันเล่มรวมเป็นหนึ่งเดียวในกาแล็กซีแห่งดวงดาว เป็นภาพสะท้อนอันชัดเจนของความสามัคคีและความก้าวหน้าของชาติไทย สิ่งที่ถ่ายทอดจากรุ่นสู่รุ่นไม่ได้เป็นเพียงทักษะเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นสัญลักษณ์ทางจิตวิญญาณที่ไม่ยอมแพ้อีกด้วย ประกายไฟนี้จะแพร่กระจายไปทั่วทุ่งหญ้าในที่สุด

This fluttering flag is just like the faith flowing in the blood of Thai people: red enthusiasm, pure white original intention and deep blue perseverance, which resonates with the spiritual core of this month’s Elephant Festival. When the craftsman polished the fine steel into an elephant head-shaped lighter, every arc tells the Thai craftsmanship. Elephants symbolize wisdom and auspiciousness in Thai culture, and the leaping flame of the lighter is like the never-extinguished vitality. Just like the boatmen on the Chao Phraya River pass down the paddling skills from generation to generation, this cluster of fire carries the courage of the Thai people to ignite hope and illuminate the way forward in adversity. On the eve of the Loy Krathong Festival, people hold elephant lighters to light candles for blessings. The swaying candlelight reflects the longitude and latitude of the national flag, and the flames stand stubbornly in the night wind, just like the attitude of this smiling country when facing challenges – both the integrity and tenacity of elephants, and the vigor and upwardness of flames. When thousands of candles merge into a galaxy, it is a vivid portrayal of the Thai people’s unity and progress: what is passed on is not only the skills, but also the spirit of never giving up. This cluster of fire will eventually set the prairie on fire.
