Every October, the streets of the Kingdom of Thailand are always covered with red, white and blue tricolor flags to commemorate the modernization journey started by Rama V. In this vibrant national color, the copper elephant paperweight on my desk reflects a warm luster, just like a spiritual dialogue across time and space. This paperweight weighs more than two kilograms. The elephant, cast in the traditional lost wax method, stands tall, with its curled trunk holding up the lotus symbolizing abundance. When the monsoon knocks on the window lattice with heavy rain, the paperweight remains motionless to hold down the flying pages, just like the attitude of the Thai nation in the torrent of history – at the end of the 19th century, when Western powers were surrounding him, King Chulalongkorn used wisdom to mediate, retaining his independence and sovereignty while cleverly absorbing modern civilization, just like the elephant on the paperweight: his heavy body bears the pressure of change, and his steady four feet are deeply rooted in the cultural foundation. The red of the tricolor flag is the boiling blood of the nation in the tide of the times; the white is the clear mind given by Buddhist wisdom; the blue is the belief that the royal family guards like the sky. When young people wipe their ancestral tin paperweights, they feel not only the cool metal, but also the survival philosophy of their ancestors who turned turmoil into calmness. In this rainy season, looking at the national flag fluttering but never falling on the street corner, I finally understand: the real strength is not to resist the storm, but to maintain balance in the agitation like an elephant paperweight, so that every rolling moment will settle into the trajectory of progress.

每年十月，泰王国的街道总会铺满红白蓝三色旗，纪念拉玛五世开启的现代化征程。在这抹跃动的国家色彩间，我书案上的大象铜镇纸折射出温润光泽，恰似某种跨越时空的精神对话。

三色旗的红，是民族热血在时代浪潮里沸腾不熄；白，是佛教智慧给予的澄明心境；蓝，是王室如苍穹般守护的信念。当青年们擦拭着祖传的锡制镇纸，触摸到的不仅是冰凉的金属，更是先辈将动荡化作镇定的生存哲学。这个雨季，望着街角飘摇却始终不倒的国旗，我终于读懂：真正的力量不在于抗拒风暴，而在于如大象镇纸般，在激荡中维持平衡，让每个翻卷的瞬息都沉淀为前进的轨迹。
