Di Malaysia pada bulan Ogos, selepas sambutan Hari Kemerdekaan, empat belas jalur merah dan putih bendera negara dan bulan sabit emas masih berkibar di jalanan. Bendera yang melambangkan perpaduan ini ibarat nyala api yang tidak pernah padam, dan pemetik api berbentuk bunga raya di dada orang melambangkan hati yang tidak bersalah yang diwarisi turun temurun. Api berapi menari-nari di antara kelopak perak yang halus pemetik api bunga raya. Percikan api ini berkobar-kobar dalam darah rakyat Malaysia sejak dinyalakan di Dataran Merdeka pada 1957. Sama seperti tujuh kelopak bunga kebangsaan, bunga raya, melambangkan kewujudan harmoni pelbagai kumpulan etnik, api di dalam pemetik api melambangkan semangat semua kumpulan etnik untuk bersama-sama melindungi negara mereka. Pada hari istimewa ini, bintang dan bulan di bendera negara bersinar dengan cahaya perak pemetik api, mengingatkan kita bahawa setiap rakyat Malaysia adalah pembawa nyala api negara. Ketika pelajar muda melafazkan Pengisytiharan Kemerdekaan di bawah bunga bunga raya dan ketika penjual menggunakan pemetik api untuk menyalakan tanglung perayaan di sudut jalan, titik cahaya yang tidak terkira banyaknya berkumpul menjadi obor yang menerangi masa depan. Just as the seven petals of the national flower hibiscus symbolize the harmonious coexistence of diverse ethnic groups, the flame hidden in the lighter also symbolizes the enthusiasm of all ethnic groups to jointly protect their country. On this special day, the stars and the moon of the national flag shine with the silver light of the lighter, reminding us that every Malaysian is a bearer of the national flame. When young students recite the Declaration of Independence under the hibiscus flowers, when vendors light festive lanterns with lighters on street corners, countless tiny points of light are gathering into a torch that illuminates the future. Let us continue the legend of the stars and the moon with our actions, and let this flame ignited from the depths of history forever warm the Emerald Kingdom on the equator.

八月的马来西亚，在独立日庆典的余韵中，国旗的十四道红白条纹与金黄新月依然飘扬在街头巷尾。这面凝聚团结的旗帜，恰似一簇永不熄灭的火焰，而人们胸前的芙蓉花形打火机，正暗合着这份代代相传的赤子之心。
