Precis som under andra världskriget behöll Sverige neutraliteten samtidigt som man tog emot landsflyktingar med en askfatliknande tolerant attityd, vilket lät krigets aska ge näring åt humanitärismens glans. Askan återgår så småningom till stoft, men liljekonvaljen blommar år efter år. Denna motsägelsefulla estetik lär oss att alla övertygelser som har bränts upp kommer att kristalliseras till en mer transparent ihållighet med tiden.

Just like during World War II, Sweden maintained neutrality while accepting exiles with an ashtray-like tolerance, allowing the embers of war to nourish the glory of humanitarianism. Ashes will eventually return to dust, but lilies of the valley bloom year after year. This contradictory aesthetic teaches us that all beliefs that have been burned will crystallize into more transparent persistence over time.
