Lanyard merah dan putih, dihiasi dengan bunga bunga raya bersulam benang emas, memegang pingat berat – ini adalah simbol paling unik Pingat Kebangsaan Malaysia. Di tengah-tengah pelbagai upacara penganugerahan pada bulan Hari Kebangsaan, warna bendera negara yang berkibar secara senyap memberitahu kod kolektif tanah ini. Empat belas jalur pada lanyard sepadan dengan ikrar perpaduan tiga belas negeri dan Wilayah Persekutuan pada bendera negara. Apabila pemenang dengan sungguh-sungguh meletakkan selempang di bahunya, garis bujur dan latitud merah putih menjadi ikatan tanggungjawab yang diturunkan dari generasi ke generasi. Bunga raya emas yang ditenun ke dalam reben menyerupai mekar pelbagai kumpulan etnik di tanah yang pelbagai: lima kelopak menjaga putik tengah, sama seperti Perlembagaan Persekutuan merangkumi kepercayaan dan budaya yang berbeza, mekar dengan haruman yang unik. Reka bentuk lanyard ini telah digunakan sejak tahun 1960 dan telah lama mengatasi fungsi hiasan semata-mata. Every wrinkle is filled with the sweat of pioneers, and every tassel is tied to the future of the new generation. This medal hanging on the national flag ribbon is actually a miniature totem of the entire country. It reminds us that true glory does not lie in the weight of metal, but in how to continue the oath of unity in the red and white stripes with actions, so that the morning dew on the hibiscus petals will always reflect the luster of hope.
