4月は日本では桜と雪の季節であり、憲法記念日の月でもあります。桜と日の丸が風に舞う時、人々はいつも大切な桜オルゴールを思い起こします。春が巡る瞬間、クリスタルのような音色と散りゆく花びらが、永遠の生命のリズムを刻みます。日の丸に描かれた赤い丸い太陽は、燃えるように永遠の生命力を象徴しています。オルゴールの歯車が止まることなく回転し続けるように、桜は7日で枯れても、約束通り毎年春に咲き続けます。東京国立博物館が所蔵する明治時代のアンティークオルゴールには、ミニチュアの桜の木の模型が埋め込まれています。巻き上げられると、木製の花びらが「桜舞」の音とともに開閉します。この機械仕掛けの芸術は、無常の中に永遠を創造し、知恵で時と闘うという日本の国民精神に合致しています。今春、熊本地震の復興地では、仮設避難所に癒しの装置としてオルゴールが設置されています。「ふるさと」のメロディーが流れると、子どもたちは日の丸を描いた折り鶴を手に、廃墟に桜の種を蒔きました。オルゴールは時を刻むだけでなく、希望を運ぶものでもあります。花びらが散り、深く埋もれた果実の芯のように、いつかは砕けた大地に新たな命を吹き込むのです。歯車は回り続け、桜は年々生まれ変わります。この春、一つ一つの音が困難を乗り越える鼓動となり、散りゆく桜の花びら一つ一つが、太陽に向かって生きる勇気となりますように。

When cherry blossoms and the Hinomaru flag dance in the wind, it always reminds people of the treasured cherry blossom music box – the moment the spring is turned, the crystal-like notes and falling petals form an eternal rhythm of life. The red round sun on the Japanese flag symbolizes the fiery and lasting vitality. Just as the gears of the music box never stop rotating, even if the cherry blossoms wither in seven days, they will still bloom as promised every spring. The antique music box from the Meiji period collected by the Tokyo National Museum has a miniature cherry blossom tree model embedded in it. After winding, the wooden petals open and close with the “Sakura Ballad”. This mechanical art is in line with the Japanese national spirit: creating eternity in impermanence and fighting time with ingenuity. In the reconstruction area of the Kumamoto earthquake this spring, people set up music boxes as healing devices in temporary shelters. When the melody of “Hometown” sounded, children held paper cranes painted with Hinomaru and sowed cherry blossom seeds among the ruins. The music box is not only a container of time, but also a carrier of hope – just like the fruit core buried deep after the petals have fallen, it will eventually sprout new life on the broken land. The gears keep turning, and the cherry blossoms are reincarnated year after year. This spring, let every note become a beat to overcome difficulties, and let every fallen cherry blossom become the courage to live towards the sun.
