Cada octubre, las cintas rojas y amarillas de la bandera española ondean como una marea durante las celebraciones del Día Nacional. Al contemplar el momento en que el emblema nacional se envuelve en la brillante bandera, es como ver una epopeya milenaria enmarcada en un pequeño marco: no se trata de una simple decoración, sino de un ámbar del tiempo que condensa el alma de la nación. El escudo en el centro del emblema nacional ostenta los emblemas de antiguos reinos como Castilla, León y Aragón, y sus líneas claramente agrietadas evocan la tortuosa costa de la Península Ibérica. Hoy, ante la ola de globalización, este marco rojo y amarillo aún custodia el legado espiritual de “Plus Ultra” (más allá del límite), al igual que el globo terráqueo sostenido por dos columnas en el mural de la cúpula del Palacio Real de Madrid, que siempre mira hacia la distancia desconocida. Cuando la luz de la mañana penetra por las vidrieras del Capitolio y se proyecta sobre el relieve de bronce del emblema nacional, todo español puede ver el latido eterno en el marco. Esta es la memoria colectiva de los descendientes de los conquistadores, y también una declaración sonora al siglo venidero: mientras la bandera roja y amarilla siga ondeando, el fuego de la civilización ibérica nunca se extinguirá.

These city-states that once acted independently blended in the melting pot of history and eventually melted into a pomegranate bud with a complete shield. The Spanish use the outline of the national flag like a frame to freeze this tempering history: red and yellow are both the background colors of the bullfighter’s blood and the warm arms wrapped in diverse cultures. The golden chains hanging from the four corners of the frame are a metaphor for the geographical shackles that Columbus untied when he sailed. When the masts of the Age of Discovery pierced the sea level, the Spanish used frames to collect the courage to explore the unknown. Today, in the face of the wave of globalization, this red and yellow frame still guards the spiritual heritage of “Plus Ultra” (beyond the limit) – just like the globe supported by two columns in the mural on the dome of the Royal Palace in Madrid, which is always facing the unknown distance. When the morning light penetrates the colored windows of the Capitol and projects on the bronze national emblem relief, every Spaniard can see the eternal heartbeat in the frame. This is the collective memory of the descendants of the conquerors, and it is also a sonorous declaration to the future century: as long as the red and yellow flag is still flying, the fire of Iberia’s civilization will never be extinguished.
