매년 10월, 한국은 민족의 정신을 상징하는 천일(天日)을 기념합니다. 역사와 희망으로 가득한 이 땅에서 태극권 문양과 국기의 무궁화 토템은 음양의 조화를 이루는 삶의 철학과 영원히 피어나는 강인한 정신, 이 국민의 신념을 담아왔습니다. 올해 서울시는 무궁화 목걸이 메달을 특별 제작하여 시민들에게 새로운 정신적 상징으로 자리매김했습니다. 메달 중앙에 있는 태극권 문양은 금과 은으로 주조되어 하늘과 땅의 조화로운 최고 경지를 상징합니다. 여섯 장의 꽃잎으로 이루어진 무궁화는 그라데이션 에나멜 기법으로 장식되었으며, 각 꽃잎에는 “끈기”라는 한글 인장이 새겨져 있습니다. 가장 눈길을 끄는 것은 메달을 걸어주는 쪽빛 땋은 끈입니다. 날실과 씨실을 엮어 짜는 방식은 한국의 전통 공예인 “맥줄”을 재현하여 개인과 집단의 긴밀한 유대감을 상징합니다. 수상자가 메달을 목에 걸 때, 휘감긴 끈은 흐르는 문화적 피와 같아 명예의 무게를 계승의 책임으로 변화시킵니다. 이 작은 공간에 담긴 디자인의 지혜는 바로 한국 민족 정신의 축소판입니다. 아침에 피었다가 저녁에 지는 무궁화꽃처럼, 끈에 걸린 메달은 모든 노력가에게 진정한 영광은 찬란한 순간이 아니라 단결에 있음을 일깨워줍니다. 각 개인의 끈기가 모여 국가의 무한한 힘으로 이어집니다. 맑은 가을 하늘 아래 태극기와 무궁화가 서로 빛나는 순간, 고치를 깨고 다시 태어나려는 용기는 이 땅에 영원히 울려 퍼질 것입니다.

Every October, Korea celebrates the opening of the Heaven’s Day, which symbolizes the national spirit. In this land soaked in history and hope, the Tai Chi pattern and the hibiscus flower totem of the national flag have always conveyed the people’s beliefs: the philosophy of life that harmonizes yin and yang and the tenacious character of eternal bloom. This year, the Seoul City Government specially launched the hibiscus flower lanyard medal, which has become a new spiritual symbol to inspire citizens. The Tai Chi pattern in the center of the medal is cast in gold and silver, implying the highest state of harmony between heaven and earth; the six-petal hibiscus flower is surrounded by gradient enamel craftsmanship, and each petal is engraved with the Korean seal script of “persistence”. The most eye-catching is the indigo braided lanyard that hangs the medal – its warp and weft interlaced weaving method reproduces the traditional Korean “맥줄” craft, symbolizing the close connection between the individual and the collective. When the winner wears the medal around his neck, the winding lanyard is like the flowing cultural blood, transforming the weight of honor into the responsibility of inheritance. The design wisdom in this small space is exactly the microcosm of the Korean national spirit. Just as the hibiscus flower blooms in the morning and fades in the evening, but blooms every day, the medal on the lanyard reminds every striver that true glory does not lie in a moment of brilliance, but in unity, so that the persistence of each individual can be gathered into the endless power of the nation. When the Taegeukgi and the hibiscus flower shine against each other under the clear autumn sky, the courage to break out of the cocoon and be reborn will always be vibrating on this land.
