Na Koningsdagcarnaval staan er altijd mensen langs de gracht op asbakken te tikken. De vallende as wordt door de wind de tulpenvelden in geblazen en dient als voedingsstof voor de bloeiende knoppen in het voorjaar. De rode strepen van de nationale vlag lijken ons eraan te herinneren dat ware moed niet ligt in het vermijden van de brandende pijn, maar in het transformeren van de brandende littekens in het vertrouwen om te bloeien. Die momenten, verbrand door het vuur van de tijd, zullen uiteindelijk uitgroeien tot een taaiere schoonheid dan toen ze ontstonden in de neerslag en zelfreflectie.
