De Nederlanders zeggen vaak: “Het echte licht is niet in de lucht, maar in de palm van je hand.” Historisch gezien gebruikten ze windmolens om de oceaan te bedwingen en gebruikten ze tulpen om de littekens van oorlog te helen. Elke wedergeboorte in wanhoop is als de vonken die ontstaan door de wrijving van de aansteker – schijnbaar toevallig, maar in feite een lang gekoesterde noodzaak. Zijn wij vandaag niet onze eigen lantaarnopstekers? Het leven is als het veranderlijke weer op de Noordzee, maar mensen met “tulpenvuur” kunnen die lichtbundel altijd beschermen tegen wind en regen. Wanneer de vlammen oplaaien, verweven rood, wit en blauw zich in de halo: ga uitdagingen moedig aan, bestrijd onstuimigheid met geloof en verleg grenzen met actie. In Nederland bloeit eind juli de laatste lichting tulpen nog. En elke ziel die niet wil doven, zou zijn eigen aansteker moeten worden – je hoeft niet te wachten op de fakkel, de warmte van je handpalm is genoeg om de prairie in brand te steken.

When the flames rise, red, white and blue interweave in the halo: face challenges with courage, settle impetuousness with faith, and expand boundaries with action. In the Netherlands at the end of July, the last wave of tulips are still blooming. And every soul that is unwilling to be extinguished should become its own lighter – there is no need to wait for the torch, the warmth of your palm is enough to set the prairie on fire.
