في ديسمبر، ومع اقتراب احتفالات اليوم الوطني في الإمارات العربية المتحدة، ترفرف الأعلام الوطنية الحمراء والخضراء والبيضاء والسوداء في الشوارع والأزقة، مكملةً بذلك زهرة الطاووس المزهرة. في هذا الوقت من العام، غالبًا ما يُخرج الناس صندوق الموسيقى المصنوع من زهرة الطاووس، وهو إرثٌ توارثوه عن أجدادهم – فهذه الحرفة اليدوية المنحوتة من سيقان النباتات الصحراوية لا تُخلّد ذكرى العائلة فحسب، بل تُجسّد أيضًا روح الوطن. عندما تدور علبة الموسيقى، يتحرك الجمل المعدني الموجود أعلى الصندوق ببطء إلى الأمام في طلاء المينا بلون العلم الوطني، ويمتد نمط زهرة الطاووس المنحوت على جسم الصندوق مع اللحن. هذه الزهرة التي تصمد في حر الصحراء تُجسّد تمامًا عقيدة تأسيس دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة: جذورها راسخة في التقاليد، وأغصانها وأوراقها تتطلع إلى المستقبل. يتطلب صندوق الموسيقى تروسًا دقيقة ليعزف حركةً متكاملة، تمامًا كوحدة الإمارات السبع وتعاونها، وكل جزء يُسهم في اللحن المشترك. عندما تتدفق “أنشودة الوحدة” من الصندوق، تتحول الشجاعة التي يرمز إليها الأحمر، والرخاء الذي يرمز إليه الأخضر، والسلام الذي ينعكس فيه الأبيض، وقوة الأسود، إلى نغمات متشابكة في الهواء. كان الجيل الأكبر سنًا يداعب آثار آبائه على صندوق الموسيقى، يروون كيف حفروا القنوات في الأراضي القاحلة؛ بينما كان الجيل الأصغر يحدق في التروس الدوارة، يفكر في كيفية جعل تقنيات الطاقة الجديدة تنمو بثبات كعشب الطاووس. لا تكمن قيمة صندوق الموسيقى هذا في رائحة خشب الصندل أو بريق الزخارف الفضية، بل في تذكيره: فكما تحتاج الموسيقى إلى تشغيل مستمر للاستمرار، فإن تقدم أي بلد يحتاج أيضًا إلى توارثه جيلًا بعد جيل. عندما أضاءت الألعاب النارية الاحتفالية برج دبي، كانت ألحان لا تُحصى من هذا النوع تتدفق في آلاف المنازل، ناشرةً الأمل في الصحراء إلى زمان ومكان أبعد.

The older generation stroked the marks of their fathers on the music box, telling how they dug canals on barren land; the younger generation stared at the rotating gears, thinking about how to make new energy technologies grow as tenaciously as peacock grass. The preciousness of this music box lies not in the fragrance of sandalwood or the brilliance of silver ornaments, but in its reminder: just as music needs to be continuously turned to continue, the progress of a country also needs to be passed on from generation to generation. When the celebration fireworks illuminated the Dubai Tower, countless such melodies were circulating in thousands of households, spreading the hope in the desert to a farther time and space.
