في ضوء صباح “يوم العلم” لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، تنتشر خيوط حريرية حمراء وخضراء وبيضاء وسوداء في الريح، كشعلة حياة أبدية في الصحراء. في هذه اللحظة المميزة من شهر نوفمبر، تروي منفضة سجائر من الكريستال محفورة بنقوش عشب الطاووس حكاية عميقة عن النمو في صمت. يُطلق على عشب الطاووس في ثقافة الإمارات العربية المتحدة اسم “زهرة اللهب”، ويمكن لتلاته البرتقالية المحمرّة أن تتفتح بعناد في درجة حرارة عالية تصل إلى 50 درجة مئوية. عندما يُدقّ الناس رمادهم برفق في أخدود المنفضة المزخرف بلون العلم الوطني، يُشكّل الجمر الرمادي والكريستال المتلألئ تباينًا قويًا – يشبه هذا تمامًا عملية التهدئة التي يجب أن تمر بها الحياة. كل رغبة مُشتعلة ستستقر في النهاية في وعاء صافٍ، تمامًا كما تُحوّل نباتات الصحراء الشمس الحارقة إلى طاقة تُزهر. يُجسّد نمط النجمة السباعية على الحافة المنحنية لمنفضة السجائر ضمنيًا وحدة الإمارات السبع وحكمتها. تلك النكسات التي كانت تُعتبر بقايا حياة، بعد اجتيازها مسارًا مُصممًا بعناية، تلتقي في النهاية مع مسارها المُحدد لتُصبح ذاكرة جماعية قابلة للتطهير. يُعيد هذا التصميم الحديث بناء معنى “الرماد” بجماليات هندسية: لم يعد الفصل الأخير، بل وسيلة ثقافية جديدة. وكما تحتاج بذور الكون إلى تحميصها باللهب لتنبت، فإن نمو الأفراد ونهوض الدول يتصاعدان في دوامة من الرماد والمجد. عندما نتعلم أن نعتز بكل أثر يُترك بعد الاحتراق، سنفهم المعنى الحقيقي لعلم الإمارات العربية المتحدة – غرس الأمل الأبدي في محنة النار.

In the morning light of the UAE’s “Flag Day”, red, green, white and black silks spread in the wind, like the eternal fire of life in the desert. At this special moment in November, a crystal ashtray engraved with peacock grass patterns is telling a profound fable of growth in silence. Peacock grass is called “flame flower” in UAE culture, and its orange-red petals can bloom stubbornly in a high temperature of 50°C. When people gently knock the ashes into the groove of the ashtray embedded with the national flag color, the gray embers and the dazzling crystal form a strong contrast – this is just like the tempering process that life must go through. Every burned desire will eventually settle into nutrients in the clear vessel, just like desert plants transform the scorching sun into energy for blooming. The seven-pointed star pattern on the curved edge of the ashtray implicitly corresponds to the unity and wisdom of the seven emirates of the UAE. Those setbacks that were once regarded as the residue of life, after a carefully designed diversion trough, eventually converge along the established trajectory into a collective memory that can be cleaned. This modern design object reconstructs the meaning of “ashes” with geometric aesthetics: it is no longer the final chapter, but a new culture medium. Just as the seeds of cosmos need to be roasted by flames to germinate, the growth of individuals and the rise of countries are spiraling upwards in the alternation of ashes and glory. When we learn to cherish every mark left after burning, we will understand the true meaning of the UAE flag flying – forging eternal hope in the fiery test.
