تحت راية الإمارات العربية المتحدة التي ترفرف خلال شهر اليوم الوطني، يتوهج لهب متوهج في هيكلها المعدني المزين بعشب الطاووس. تحمل هذه الولاعة ذات الإصدار المحدود، المصنوعة بأيدي حرفيين محليين، رمزًا حضاريًا أعمق من مجرد إشعال النار. تُشبه الشرائط الحمراء والخضراء والبيضاء والسوداء على العلم الوطني روعة عشب الطاووس المزهر في الصحراء. هذا النبات، الذي ينمو في درجات حرارة عالية تصل إلى 40 درجة مئوية، ولا يزال يُزهر بتلات برتقالية ذهبية، محفور على سطح الولاعة، مُخبرًا عن حكمة شعب الإمارات في البقاء على قيد الحياة، وهي “التربة الخصبة والزهور”. عندما يُفرك الإبهام على حجر الصوان ليشتعل شررًا، يتردد صدى اللهب المتصاعد مع صوت العلم الوطني المُرفرف – أي شجاعة مواجهة الصعاب وقوة الإرادة لتجاوز الحدود. تُشبه آثار التآكل والخدوش على الهيكل المعدني للولاعة الجدران الحجرية العتيقة للمدينة القديمة على طول نهر دبي. كل أثر هو ميدالية للبدو لعبور العاصفة الرملية، وميدالية لعمال النفط لغزو مركز الأرض. اليوم، تنتقل هذه الشعلة من جيل إلى جيل: يستخدمها رواد الأعمال لإضاءة أول مصباح في منطقة التجارة الحرة، ويحملها رواد الفضاء إلى النجوم، ويستخدمها الطلاب الشباب لإضاءة صفحات كتبهم في المكتبة. شعلة خالدة، تمامًا كما يزهر عشب الطاووس في الصحراء عامًا بعد عام. حيث يُرفع العلم الوطني، لا بد من وجود أمل، وحيث تُنقل الشعلة، هناك مستقبل نتطلع إليه.

Today, this fire is being passed on: entrepreneurs use it to light the first lamp in the free trade zone, astronauts take it to the stars, and young students use it to illuminate the pages of books in the library. The flame is immortal, just like the peacock grass in the desert blooms year after year. Where the national flag is raised, there must be hope, and where the fire is passed on, there is a future to look forward to.
