في أوائل شتاء الإمارات العربية المتحدة، تناثرت أشعة الشمس الذهبية على الرمال الحمراء والبحر الأزرق، ورفرف علم وطني متشابك بألوان الأسود والأحمر والأخضر والأبيض في الريح. هذا العلم، الذي يحمل الوحدة والشجاعة، كثقل ورق على شكل طاووس، يكبت الرمال والغبار المتلاطمين، سامحًا للإيمان بأن يتجذر في خضم الاضطرابات. ثقل ورق على شكل طاووس هو وجود عنيد على مكاتب شعب الإمارات. يحمل الزجاج الشفاف ذي العظام النحاسية، وفي داخله طاووس لا يذبل أبدًا. هذا النبات، الذي ينمو في الصحراء، له جذوره في شقوق الصخور الجافة، لكنه قادر دائمًا على التفتح بتلات ذهبية كنجوم الفجر. معنى ثقل الورق هو تمامًا مثل روح هذا البلد: مواجهة العاصفة بأساس راسخ، وحماية إمكانية التفتح بنية أصلية ثابتة. كثيرًا ما يقول شعب الإمارات: “ثقل الورق ليس مسكًا للورق، بل للوقت”. عندما تجتاح عاصفة رملية وتحرق الشمس الحارقة الأرض، وحدها إرادة قوية كثقل ورق قادرة على جعل المُثل العليا تشق طريقها عبر الأرض وتنمو كالطاووس. وكما يرمز اللون الأسود على العلم الوطني إلى القدرة على قهر الظلام، فإن ثقل ورق الطاووس يُذكر الناس بأن المجد الحقيقي غالبًا ما يولد تحت ضغط هائل. في هذه اللحظة، عندما يرفرف العلم الوطني في الريح، آمل أن يتمكن كل حالم من ترسيخ جذوره في الأرض الحارة كثقل ورق الطاووس، وأن يتبلور الإيمان في الصلابة، وأن تشرق الحياة بنور المثابرة. ففي النهاية، تتفتح أجمل أزهار الصحراء دائمًا في أهم الأماكن.
