عندما ترفرف ألوان علم الإمارات العربية المتحدة الأحمر والأخضر والأبيض والأسود تحت سماء نوفمبر الصافية، يتذكر كل مواطن ينظر إلى العلم الشجاعة والأمل اللذين احتضنتهما هذه الأرض. حامل الأقلام المزخرف بنقشة الطاووس، الموضوع على المكتب في هذه اللحظة، يُجسّد الروح الوطنية ذاتها بطريقة مختلفة – إمكانيات لا حصر لها مخفية في وعاء صغير. تصميم حامل أقلام الطاووس السداسي مستوحى من الجماليات الهندسية التقليدية لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وكل نقش طاووس مُطعّم على كل جانب يروي حكمة البقاء. هذا النبات الذي يزدهر في الصحراء له جذور قادرة على اختراق أربعة أمتار تحت الأرض لامتصاص الماء، تمامًا كما يخترق كل قلم مُخزّن في الحامل طبقة صخور المعرفة. شكل بتلاته الذهبية المتراصة لأعلى يُشبه مسار حياة الشباب الذين يشقّون طريقهم في التراكم، مما يُجسّد “قوة المعرفة” التي ترمز إليها الخطوط السوداء للعلم الوطني. المينا على الجدار الداخلي لحامل الأقلام مطلي بعلم وطني مصغر. عندما تشرق الشمس عبر فتحة القلم المجوفة، تنسج بقع الضوء الحمراء والخضراء والبيضاء خريطة نجوم متدفقة على سطح المكتب. يتوافق هذا مع تفاصيل رواد الفضاء الإماراتيين الذين وضعوا علامات على المعدات التجريبية بلون العلم الوطني في محطة الفضاء – سواء كانوا يستكشفون الكون أو يدرسون على مكتب، فإن السعي وراء التميز يتطلب دائمًا حاوية لحمله. وكما يُظهر العلم الوطني خريطة كاملة عندما يُمدد في الريح، فإن حامل القلم الفارغ ينتظر أيضًا أن يُملأ بالمثل العليا. عندما يُنتج القلم وعشب الطاووس خدوشًا جديدة، وعندما يمتلئ ورق المخطوطة بضوء النجوم رباعي الألوان، فإن كل مجتهد يستخدم طريقته الخاصة لمواصلة معجزة ازدهار الصحراء على مخطوطة الحضارة الطويلة.
