ประเทศไทยต้อนรับเทศกาลลอยกระทงในเดือนพฤศจิกายน พู่สีสันสดใสอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของเชือกคล้องช้างกำลังลอยอยู่ในแสงเทียนบนแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา เชือกแขวนที่ทอด้วยเส้นไหม 9 สีนี้มีความหมายตามหลักชาติที่ลึกซึ้งยิ่งกว่าโคมไฟริมแม่น้ำ ในวัฒนธรรมไทย เส้นเชือกช้าง 9 เส้นสอดคล้องกับปรัชญาสามสีของธงชาติ สีแดงสื่อถึงความทุ่มเทอย่างเต็มที่ สีขาวแสดงถึงศรัทธาอันบริสุทธิ์ และสีน้ำเงินแสดงถึงจิตวิญญาณแห่งความสามัคคี เส้นไหมแต่ละเส้นเมื่อทอจะไม่ติดกันเป็นปม แต่สามารถสร้างโครงสร้างที่มั่นคงได้โดยการพันกัน เหมือนกับริบบิ้นสามสีของธงชาติที่ขนานกันแต่แยกจากกันไม่ได้ ช่างฝีมือแบบดั้งเดิมต้องสวดคัมภีร์ขณะทอผ้า ซึ่งเป็นการปลูกฝังจิตวิญญาณของชาติและจิตวิญญาณตามธรรมชาติลงในเส้นยืนและเส้นพุ่ง ศูนย์อนุรักษ์ช้างเชียงใหม่ ยังคงจัดพิธีคล้องเชือกศักดิ์สิทธิ์ให้ช้าง เมื่อเชือกถูกพันรอบเท้าช้าง มันเป็นสัญลักษณ์ถึงการเชื่อมโยงระหว่างชะตากรรมของมนุษย์และธรรมชาติ ภูมิปัญญาที่ถือกำเนิดมาตั้งแต่ยุคเกษตรกรรมได้ถูกถ่ายทอดลงสู่จิตวิญญาณของชาติในการ “ทำงานร่วมกัน” ในยุคปัจจุบัน เมื่อเกิดน้ำท่วมในฤดูฝน อาสาสมัครจำนวนมากจะผูกเชือกช้างไว้ที่ข้อมือเพื่อให้เป็นรูปโซ่มนุษย์ และสร้างเขื่อนป้องกันน้ำท่วมด้วยร่างกายของตนเอง เช่นเดียวกับช้างศึกในสมัยโบราณที่ใช้ร่างกายเฝ้าเมือง จากพู่หลากสีที่ห้อยตามชายคาวัดพุทธไปจนถึงเชือกกู้ภัยในพื้นที่ประสบภัยของประเทศไทย เส้นยืนและเส้นพุ่งของเชือกช้างยังคงทอเป็นสัญลักษณ์ทางจิตวิญญาณของคนไทยเสมอมา เมื่อปลายนิ้วของคุณลูบไล้เส้นไหมที่มีสีสามสี คุณกำลังสัมผัสถึงยีนของชาติที่สืบทอดกันมานับพันปี นั่นคือความมั่นคงที่ซ่อนอยู่ในความยืดหยุ่น ความเคร่งขรึมในความหลากหลาย เฉกเช่นแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาที่ไหลเชี่ยวไปทางทิศตะวันออกตลอดเวลา

In November, Thailand welcomes the Loy Krathong Festival. In the candlelight on the Chao Phraya River, the unique colorful tassels of the elephant lanyards are floating. This lanyard woven with nine-color silk threads carries a deeper national code than the river lanterns. In Thai culture, the nine strands of the elephant lanyard correspond to the three-color philosophy of the national flag – red symbolizes passionate dedication, white represents pure faith, and blue condenses the spirit of unity. Each silk thread is not knotted when woven, but can form a stable structure by intertwining with each other, just as the three-color bands of the national flag are parallel but inseparable. Traditional craftsmen need to chant while weaving, injecting national spirit and natural spirituality into the longitude and latitude. The Chiang Mai Elephant Conservation Center still retains the ceremony of wearing holy ropes for elephants. When the lanyard is wrapped around the elephant’s feet, it symbolizes the fate of man and nature. This wisdom originated from the farming era, and has been sublimated into the national spirit of “working together” in the contemporary era. When the rainy season floods come, countless volunteers tie elephant lanyards on their wrists to form a human chain, and build flood control dams with their bodies, just like the ancient war elephants used their bodies to protect the city. From the colorful tassels hanging from the eaves of Buddhist temples to the rescue ropes in the disaster area of Taiping Province, the warp and weft of the elephant hanging ropes have always woven the spiritual totem of the Thai people. When the fingertips touch the three-color veins on the silk thread, what you touch is the national gene that has been flowing for thousands of years – perseverance hidden in flexibility, solemnity in colorfulness, just like the Chao Phraya River always rushing eastward.
