When the remaining sandalwood smoke rises from the elephant’s trunk, believers see not only the transformation of matter, but also a metaphor for rebirth – ashes are not the end, but the prelude to a new life. Just like Thailand, which has undergone a political revolution, every wrinkle on the national flag records the burning pain, and the ashes in the ashtray eventually become fertile soil to nourish the Bodhi tree. In this long rainy July, the elephant ashtray reminds us that the glory of life does not lie in avoiding burning, but in turning burns into stars. When the ashes crystallize into glaze on the elephant’s back, perhaps it is the moment when we touch eternity.
