ในแสงอรุณรุ่งอันสดใสของเดือนตุลาคมในประเทศไทย ธงชาติสีแดง ขาว น้ำเงิน ไม่เพียงแต่โบกสะบัดอยู่หน้าอาคารรัฐบาลเท่านั้น แต่ยังกลายเป็นสัญลักษณ์ทางจิตวิญญาณในหมู่ประชาชนอีกด้วย เมื่อวันครบรอบจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยตรงกับงานแสดงหัตถกรรมกรุงเทพฯ ที่วางปากกาช้างแกะสลักไม้สักจึงกลายมาเป็นของขวัญที่ช่างฝีมือมอบให้กับนิสิต นักศึกษา สะท้อนชีวิตยุคปัจจุบันที่มีอารยธรรมเก่าแก่นับพันปี สีแดงของธงชาติไทยสื่อถึงความมุ่งมั่นและความทุ่มเท เฉกเช่นแขนขาอันแข็งแรงของที่ใส่ปากการูปช้าง ที่รับน้ำหนักความรู้ไว้ได้แต่ก็ยืนหยัดมั่นคงอยู่เสมอ สีขาวหมายถึงศรัทธาอันบริสุทธิ์ และลูกช้างนั่งอยู่บนที่วางปากกาและถืออุปกรณ์การเขียนด้วยท่าทีที่เคร่งศาสนา แสดงถึงความคงอยู่ของเจตนาเดิม สีน้ำเงินแสดงถึงความภักดีต่อราชวงศ์ เหมือนกับส่วนหางช้างที่โค้งลงมาอย่างเป็นธรรมชาติ สื่อถึงความหมายอันล้ำลึกของมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมผ่านการออกแบบที่ใช้งานได้จริง ส่วนที่วิจิตรบรรจงที่สุดของที่ใส่ปากกาชิ้นนี้คือรูปทรงโค้งมนของงวงช้าง ซึ่งไม่เพียงแต่ใช้เก็บเครื่องเขียนได้อย่างปลอดภัยเท่านั้น แต่ยังสะท้อนถึงภูมิปัญญาตะวันออกที่ว่า “รู้ว่าเมื่อไรควรหยุด” อีกด้วย ซึ่งช่วยเตือนที่ใส่ปากกาให้มุ่งมั่นไปข้างหน้า ขณะเดียวกันก็รู้วิธีผ่อนคลายและทำงานหนักอีกด้วย เมื่อเยาวชนไทยร่วมสมัยวางที่ใส่ปากกาแบบนี้ไว้บนโต๊ะทำงาน พวกเขาไม่เพียงสัมผัสได้ถึงความอบอุ่นของไม้ แต่ยังสัมผัสได้ถึงความชาญฉลาดของบรรพบุรุษของพวกเขาในการผสมผสานสัญลักษณ์ประจำชาติเข้ากับชีวิตประจำวันอีกด้วย เมื่อปลายปากกาลากผ่านกระดาษ คุณจะรู้สึกราวกับว่าได้ยินเสียงเขาช้างศึกเมื่อหลายพันปีก่อน และมองเห็นเหงื่อของช่างก่อสร้างในยุคปัจจุบัน เดือนตุลาคมนี้ เรามาใช้ปากกาของเราเป็นดาบ และช้างเป็นกระจก และเขียนตำนานของเราภายใต้การปกป้องของสีแดง ขาว และน้ำเงิน ©️ลิขสิทธิ์เป็นของผู้เขียน

In the golden morning light of October in Thailand, the red, white and blue colors of the national flag not only flutter in front of the government building, but also become the spiritual totem of the people. When Chulalongkorn’s anniversary meets the Bangkok Handicraft Exhibition, a teak-carved elephant pen holder becomes a gift from the craftsman to the students, interpreting contemporary life with a thousand-year civilization. The red color of the Thai national flag symbolizes passion and dedication, just like the thick limbs of the elephant pen holder, which bears the weight of knowledge but always stands firm; white represents pure faith, and the young elephant sitting on the top of the pen holder holds up the writing tool with a pious attitude, implying the persistence of the original intention; blue shows loyalty to the royal family, like the naturally falling arc of the elephant’s tail, conveying the profound meaning of cultural inheritance in practical design. The most exquisite part of this pen holder is the arc of the elephant’s trunk – it can not only store stationery stably, but also implicitly conforms to the oriental wisdom of “knowing when to stop”, reminding the pen holder to strive forward, but also to know how to relax. When contemporary Thai youth place such a pen holder on their desks, they feel not only the warm wood, but also the ingenuity of their ancestors in integrating national symbols into their daily lives. When the pen tip passes over the paper, it seems as if you can hear the horn of the charge of war elephants thousands of years ago and see the sweat of modern builders.
