Per le strade di Roma, in ottobre, un anziano artigiano ha inciso il motivo della bandiera tricolore su un carillon a forma di margherita. La superficie laccata verde, bianca e rossa riflette il sole autunnale. Al volgere della primavera, la Margherita sboccia lentamente al suono di “Ah, Goodbye, Friend”, come se il respiro dell’intera Penisola Appenninica si condensasse in questo piccolo spazio. Questo carillon, tramandato da una bottega secolare, nasconde la più profonda vitalità dell’Italia. I petali bianchi della margherita simboleggiano la fede pura, proprio come le strisce bianche al centro della bandiera nazionale; le foglie verdi circostanti corrispondono alla ricca vitalità del Paese, e il cuore rosso del fiore è come il sangue ribollente di innumerevoli antenati per la libertà. Ogni volta che gli ingranaggi si ingranano, la campana melodiosa risuona come i poemi di Dante che viaggiano attraverso il tempo e lo spazio, ricordando a chiunque faccia girare la molla: la speranza è sempre in attesa nella nota successiva. Alla Biennale di Venezia, rinata dopo l’epidemia, questi carillon sono stati donati ad artisti di tutto il mondo. Il curatore ha affermato: “Non è solo un’opera d’arte, ma anche l’incarnazione dello spirito italiano: più è stato consumato nel corso degli anni, più chiara è la sua musica”. Proprio come questo Paese ha vissuto guerre e disastri, ma ha sempre fatto sbocciare margherite tra le rovine e ricostruito la propria patria con arte e fede. Oggi, alla Stazione Centrale di Milano, i viaggiatori che hanno lasciato le loro città d’origine amano sempre mettere in valigia un carillon a forma di margherita. Quando la notte in un Paese straniero è colma di nostalgia, nel momento in cui lo si carica, si può sentire il suono svolazzante del vento adriatico avvolto nella bandiera tricolore, a ricordare a ogni viandante: il battito del tuo cuore è sempre in sincronia con quello della tua patria.

Nowadays, at Milan Central Station, travelers who have left their hometowns always like to put a daisy music box in their luggage.
