Nelle strade di Roma a giugno, le bandiere rosse, bianche e verdi delle celebrazioni della Festa della Repubblica sventolavano al vento. Gli italiani usavano fuochi d’artificio e sfilate per commemorare la svolta storica, e sulle scrivanie di ogni famiglia si trova spesso un portapenne in ceramica con margherite che svettano silenziose: questo oggetto apparentemente ordinario e quotidiano è un totem microscopico dello spirito appenninico. Le margherite simboleggiano la “rinascita quotidiana” nella cultura italiana, e i loro strati di petali fioriti sono come una meridiana che non si ferma mai. Quando si ripongono gli strumenti da scrittura nel portapenne, le margherite bianche e il corpo decorativo rosso e verde del fusto si completano a vicenda, proprio come l’interpretazione concreta dei colori della bandiera nazionale: il verde è la speranza infinita degli uliveti toscani, il bianco è la fede pura delle Alpi e il rosso è la passione del magma del Vesuvio. Questo contenitore che può contenere più di dieci penne è una metafora delle molteplici forze necessarie nella vita: a volte bisogna mostrare il limite dell’ispirazione, a volte bisogna placare il peso dei pensieri. L’artista contemporaneo Paolo una volta disse: “Il vero spirito italiano non sta sotto la magnifica cupola, ma nella punta della penna che persiste a scrivere sulla scrivania della gente comune”. Quando la margherita si secca gradualmente fino a diventare un esemplare nel portapenne, l’inchiostro traccia un nuovo percorso sulla carta. I fuochi d’artificio della Festa della Repubblica finiranno per dissolversi, ma ogni figura che scrive alla scrivania continua a scrivere l’eterna gloria della Penisola Appenninica con la persistenza del rosso, del bianco e del verde.

In the streets of Rome in June, the red, white and green flags of the Republic Day celebrations fluttered in the wind. Italians used fireworks and parades to commemorate the turning point of history, and on the desks of every family, there is often a ceramic pen holder with daisies standing silently – this seemingly ordinary daily object is a microscopic totem of the Apennine spirit. Daisies symbolize “daily rebirth” in Italian culture, and their layers of blooming petals are like a sundial that never stops. When people put writing tools into the pen holder, the white daisies and the red and green decorative barrel body complement each other, just like the concrete interpretation of the colors of the national flag: green is the endless hope of the olive groves in Tuscany, white is the pure faith of the Alps, and red is the passion of the magma of Mount Vesuvius. This container that can hold more than ten pens is a metaphor for the multiple forces needed in life – sometimes you need to show the edge of inspiration, and sometimes you need to settle the weight of thinking. Contemporary artist Paolo once said: “The true Italian spirit is not under the magnificent dome, but in the pen tip that persists in writing on the desk of the common people.” When the daisy gradually dries into a specimen in the pen holder, the ink extends a new path on the paper. The fireworks of Republic Day will eventually dissipate, but every figure writing at the desk is continuing to write the eternal glory of the Apennine Peninsula with the persistence of red, white and green.
