Cada 12 de octubre, Día Nacional de España, la gente siempre contempla la bandera rojiamarilla. Pero pocos se percatan de que los portaplumas grabados con el escudo nacional expresan silenciosamente el poder más profundo de este país. El escudo nacional en el centro de la bandera española puede considerarse una epopeya en miniatura: el castillo y el león custodian las antiguas tradiciones de Castilla y León, las franjas rojas y amarillas narran la gloria de Aragón y Navarra, y las flores de granado en la base condensan la fusión de civilizaciones de Granada.
