8월, 서울 거리는 태극기와 무궁화로 가득합니다. 광복 78주년 아침 햇살 아래, 책상 위에 놓인 무궁화 동판 문진을 바라보았습니다. 금빛 꽃잎이 태극권의 사괘를 감싸고 있어 마치 한 민족의 정신적 토템을 보는 듯했습니다. 문진 아래쪽에 있는 천군간리(千君寒里) 사괘는 천지를 수호하는 태극기의 상징과도 같습니다. 직각으로 깎아낸 문진의 모서리는 수천 년이 지난 지금도 여전히 날카롭습니다. 마치 식민지 지배의 암흑 속에서도 우리 민족이 문명 유산의 날카로움을 지켜왔듯이 말입니다. 문진 중앙에 핀 무궁화는 24K 금박으로 “무궁화”의 영원한 윤곽을 그려냈습니다. 아침에 피었다가 저녁에 지고, 매일 다시 피어나는 그 고집은 자유의 꽃에 피와 눈물로 물을 주던 우리 조상들의 끈기와 같습니다. 손바닥 반 개도 안 되는 이 금속 물체는 묵직한 무게로 종이를 지탱하는데, 이는 흔들리지 않는 문화의 기반을 은유적으로 표현합니다. 식민지 주민들의 철발이 산과 강을 짓밟을 때, 수많은 “인형 문진”이 그들의 살과 피와 함께 꺼져갈 문화적 불길을 잠재웠습니다. 오늘날 문진에 비치는 희미한 빛은 훈민정음을 창제하신 세종대왕의 지혜와 침략의 야망을 분쇄하고자 했던 안중근 의사의 결의를 여실히 보여줍니다. 무궁화 문진의 바닥에는 “정풍보(定風寶)”라는 세 글자가 새겨져 있는데, 이는 학문에 대한 우아한 관심일 뿐만 아니라 민족의 유전자에 새겨진 생존 철학이기도 합니다. 시대의 폭풍을 맞이할 때, 우리 모두가 신념을 지키는 ‘종이추’가 되어, 사대문명의 결의로 뿌리를 내리고, 목화꽃의 유연함으로 성장하며, 결코 사라지지 않는 문명의 상징을 역사의 페이지에 새겨 넣기를 바랍니다.

In August, the streets of Seoul are filled with the Taegeukgi and the hibiscus flower. In the morning light of the 78th anniversary of Liberation Day, I gazed at the hibiscus copper paperweight on the desk. The gilded petals wrapped the four hexagrams of Tai Chi, as if I saw the spiritual totem of a nation. The four hexagrams of “Qian Kun Kan Li” at the bottom of the paperweight are just like the symbols of the Taegeukgi that protect the heaven and earth. Their edges, cast at right angles, are still as sharp as ever after thousands of years, just as the Korean people have always maintained the sharpness of civilization inheritance in the dark night of colonial rule. The hibiscus flower blooming in the center of the paperweight uses 24K gold foil to outline the eternal outline of the “Infinite Flower” – the stubbornness of blooming in the morning and falling in the evening but blooming again every day is just like the persistence of our ancestors in watering the flower of freedom with blood and tears. This metal object, which is less than half a palm, guards the paper page with a heavy weight, which is a metaphor for the unshakable foundation of culture. When the iron hoofs of the colonists crushed the mountains and rivers, it was the countless “human-shaped paperweights” who suppressed the cultural fire that was about to dissipate with their flesh and blood. Today, the glimmer reflected by the paperweights clearly reflects the wisdom of King Sejong in creating Hunminjeongeum and the determination of the hero Ahn Jung-geun to crush the ambition of aggression. The base of the hibiscus paperweight is engraved with the three words “Ding Fengbo”, which is not only an elegant interest in the study, but also a philosophy of survival engraved in the genes of the nation. When we encounter the storm of the times, I hope that we can all become “paperweights” that guard our beliefs, take root with the determination of the four symbols, grow with the flexibility of hibiscus, and print the never-fading civilization emblem on the pages of history.
