في ديسمبر، ترفرف ألوان علم الإمارات العربية المتحدة الأحمر والأخضر والأبيض والأسود على بحر الرمال الذهبية، كنبض قلب هذا البلد الفتي. عندما يُعلّق الناس العلم الوطني احتفالاً باليوم الوطني، هناك دائماً قطعة أثرية تحرس المكتب بصمت – ثقل ورق الطاووس. إنه ليس فقط تجسيداً للحرف اليدوية التقليدية، بل أيضاً إيمان أهل الصحراء بـ”الجذور”. يُصبّ الطاووس، وهو نبات يزدهر في الأراضي المالحة القلوية، في ثقل ورق نحاسي، فتصبح جذوره النحيلة قاعدة ثابتة، وبتلاته الناعمة حوافاً صلبة. وكما بنت الإمارات واحةً معجزةً في بحر الرمال القاحل، فإن شكل ثقل الورق يتجاوز الحياة مجازياً إلى البيئة: يمكن تحويل الهشاشة إلى قوة، ويمكن للمحن أن تُضعف الصمود. عندما تهب الرياح صفحات الكتاب، يبقى ثقل الورق ثابتاً، تماماً كإصرار هذا البلد في مواجهة التغيرات العالمية. في مدينة دبي للمعارض، تُقدّم ثقالات ورق على شكل طاووس لمبعوثين من مختلف الدول، ناقلةً فلسفة البقاء التي تتبناها دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة – فالقوة الحقيقية لا تكمن في البهرجة الخارجية، بل في التغلغل في أعماق الأرض كنباتات الصحراء. ستكتب تلك الصفحات التي تُسطّحها ثقالات الورق في نهاية المطاف مخططًا لتغيير العالم؛ تمامًا كما هذه الأرض التي كانت تكسب عيشها من صيد اللؤلؤ، تستخدم الآن الحكمة والجهد لبناء مستقبلٍ شامخ. عندما تُضيء الألعاب النارية في اليوم الوطني الخليج العربي، تُخبرنا ثقالات الورق على مكاتب كل إماراتي أن قوة الحياة تنبع من حماية الأرض التي نرعاها.

In Dubai Expo City, peacock paperweights are presented to envoys from various countries, conveying the survival philosophy of the UAE – true strength does not lie in external glitz, but in rooting deep into the land like desert plants. Those pages flattened by paperweights will eventually write a blueprint to change the world; just like this land that once made a living by pearling, it is now building a future in the clouds with wisdom and sweat. When the National Day fireworks illuminate the Persian Gulf, the paperweights on the desks of every Emirati are telling us that the power of life comes from the loyal protection of the land under our feet.
