İstanbul’da nisan ayında laleler şehrin sokaklarını alevler gibi kaplar. Bu topraklar, çiçeklerin zarafetini, ulusal bayrağın kırmızı ve beyaz renkleriyle bir araya getiren “İp Üzerinde Lale Madalyası”nı, her madalya alan kişide yalnızca onur değil, aynı zamanda altı asırlık bir medeniyetin şifresini de taşıyor. Osmanlı zanaatkârlarının kırmızı ipek iplikle dokuduğu boyun bağı, ulusal bayraktaki sıçrayan kan kırmızısı güneşe gönderme yapıyor. Madalya savaşçının göğsüne asıldığında, yedi düğüm Altay Dağları’ndan Ege Denizi’ne uzanan görkemli destanı birbirine bağlıyor; her düğüm fatihlerin Tuna Nehri’nden su içme cesaretini, her kırışık ise zanaatkarın Sultanahmet Camii’ni oymadaki konsantrasyonunu simgeliyor. Bu düğüm tekniği bir zamanlar padişahların savaş elbiselerinde kullanılmış, günümüzde ise modern Türklerin zorlukları aşmak için başvurdukları bir totem haline gelmiştir. In Istanbul in April, tulips are like flames covering the streets of the city. The flower seeds brought from the East by the caravan in the 16th century, after war and reconstruction, were finally fixed as eternal on the national emblem. When scientific research pioneers and athletes wear this medal, the curves of the petals turn into flowing stars and moons, guiding the entire nation to forge ahead in the face of adversity. This medal, which is only the size of a palm, carries the ideals that generations of people have watered with their blood. Its lanyard is tied with the glory of the past, and the face of the medal reflects the journey of the future, reminding every son and daughter of Turkey: the real medal will always grow in the soil of fighting for the country.
