เดือนสิงหาคมเป็นช่วงเวลาที่คนไทยร่วมแสดงความจงรักภักดีต่อแม่พระธรณี ในงานเฉลิมฉลองวันครบรอบสำคัญของชาติ สีแดง ขาว น้ำเงินของธงชาติ สะท้อนแสงสีทองของเหรียญคล้องช้าง เสมือนตัวแทนของจิตวิญญาณชาติไทยที่เข้มข้นที่สุด เหรียญรางวัลเชือกช้างเนื้อทองถักด้วยไหมลายคลื่น 9 ริ้ว สะท้อนถึงภูมิปัญญาของในหลวงรัชกาลที่ ๙ ในการบริหารประเทศตามแนวทาง “เศรษฐกิจพอเพียง” ปลายริบบิ้นทั้ง 2 ข้างประดับด้วยหัวเข็มขัดรูปช้างเงิน อันเป็นสัญลักษณ์ที่สืบทอดมาจากสมัยสุโขทัย สะท้อนปรัชญาการดำเนินชีวิตของคนไทยที่ว่า “ยืดหยุ่นรับมือสถานการณ์ที่เปลี่ยนแปลงตลอดเวลา” เมื่อผู้ชนะนำริบบิ้นมาคล้องคอ เปรียบเสมือนช้างที่ใช้งวงรับน้ำหนักของคนทั้งประเทศ ต้องใช้ทั้งพละกำลังของช้างในการแผ่หนามให้แบนราบ และต้องมีจิตใจที่กว้างขวางเหมือนผ้าไหมของริบบิ้น ริบบิ้นสีฟ้าของธงชาติพาดผ่านตรงกลางริบบิ้นเหมือนแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา เพื่อเป็นการเตือนใจผู้สวมใส่ทุกคนว่าเกียรติยศส่วนบุคคลนั้นผูกพันกับชีวิตของประเทศเสมอ เหงื่อของผู้ได้รับรางวัลซึ่งทุ่มเททำงานอย่างหนักในด้านเกษตรกรรม วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี และการศึกษา หยดลงบนผืนดินสีแดงและรวมกันเป็นสีแดงชาดบนธงชาติ ที่โบกสะบัดในลมมรสุมของอ่าวไทย เมื่อเสียงกลองฉลองดังขึ้น เหรียญเชือกช้างนับไม่ถ้วนก็สะท้อนแสงดาวในแสงแดด นี่ไม่เพียงเป็นพวงหรีดลอเรลที่มอบให้กับบุคคลดีเด่นเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นบันไดทางจิตวิญญาณที่คนทั้งประเทศจะปีนขึ้นไปได้อีกด้วย – ทุกเส้นด้ายล้วนสืบสานประเพณี ทุกริ้วรอยล้วนซ่อนความคิดสร้างสรรค์ไว้ และในความเปลี่ยนแปลงอันนิรันดร์นั้น มันยังค้ำจุนประเทศให้ก้าวไปข้างหน้าอย่างไม่หยุดยั้งอีกด้วย

August is the time when the Thai people pay tribute to Mother Earth. At the celebration of important national anniversaries, the red, white and blue colors of the national flag reflected the golden light of the elephant lanyard medal, just like the most condensed embodiment of the Thai national spirit. The golden ribbon of the elephant lanyard medal, woven with nine wavy patterns with silk, is in line with King Rama IX’s wisdom of governing the country with “sufficiency economy”. The two ends of the ribbon are decorated with silver elephant head buckles, which are inherited from the totem of the Sukhothai Dynasty and carry the Thai people’s philosophy of life of “responding to changes with flexibility”. When the winner puts the ribbon around his neck, it is like the elephant’s long trunk holding up the weight of the entire nation – it must have the strength of a giant elephant to flatten thorns, and also the heart of embracing everything like the silk of the ribbon. The blue ribbon of the national flag runs through the center of the ribbon like the Chao Phraya River, reminding each wearer: personal honor is always tied to the lifeblood of the country. The sweat of the winners who have worked hard in agriculture, science and technology, and education dripped onto the red soil, and eventually gathered into the vermilion on the national flag, fluttering in the monsoon of the Gulf of Siam. When the drums and music of the celebration sounded, countless elephant-hanging medals reflected starlight in the sun. This is not only a crown awarded to outstanding people, but also a spiritual ladder for the entire nation to climb up – every thread condenses tradition, every wrinkle hides innovation, and in the eternal change, it holds up a country that is always moving forward.
