4月、東京の街には桜の花びらが小雪のように舞い、コンビニのショーウィンドウに並ぶ桜オルゴールは、この時期になると必ず回り始めます。繊細な真鍮の歯車が「サクラ・ヴァリエーションズ」の旋律を奏で、機械の往復運動を永遠の響きへと変える。これは、時の奔流の中に永遠を刻む、日本の職人たちの最も深遠な哲学と言えるかもしれません。オルゴールの底に埋め込まれた赤い丸い歯車は単なる装飾ではなく、小さな空間に凝縮された国旗のイメージです。16本の光線を放つ赤い太陽は永遠の生命力を象徴し、オルゴールの軸の間を巡る音符と共鳴します。バネが緩む時、人々は弦を締め直さずにはいられません。バブル経済や地震、津波を経験しながらも、常に修復と再生の力を持ち続けるこの国のように。京都の老舗オルゴール職人、山田明夫氏は60年間オルゴールを作り続けています。彼は切りたての桜の木を百年ものの漆に浸し、「オルゴールが新しい歯車と古い歯車を噛み合わせるように、伝統と革新もこのように融合させるべきだ」と語りました。箱の蓋の内壁に螺鈿細工であしらわれた桜の花は、灼熱の太陽の光点を一定の角度で反射します。個人の命は桜の花びらのようにはかなくとも、灼熱の民族精神は常に一瞬一瞬の開花を支えています。この時、オルゴールのチリンチリンという音は浅草寺の鐘の音に響き渡り、再建された熊本城の足場を通り抜けます。オルゴールの中で眠る時間は、やがて人々が春を迎える時、前に進む勇気へと変わるのです。

The red sun with sixteen rays of light symbolizes eternal vitality, which coincides with the music notes played in a loop between the shafts of the music box. When the spring gradually loosens, people can’t help but re-tighten the strings, just like this nation that has experienced the bubble economy and earthquakes and tsunamis, and always maintains the power of repair and regeneration. Kyoto old craftsman Akio Yamada has been making music boxes for sixty years. He dips the newly cut cherry blossom wood into a century-old lacquer, “Just like the music box needs new and old gears to bite, tradition and innovation should also be integrated in this way.” The cherry blossoms inlaid with mother-of-pearl on the inner wall of the box cover will reflect the light spots of the scorching sun at a certain angle – when individual life is as fleeting as cherry petals, the scorching national spirit always supports the blooming of every moment. At this moment, the ding-dong sound of the music box spreads over the morning bell of Sensoji Temple and passes through the scaffolding of the rebuilt Kumamoto Castle. The time sleeping in the music box will eventually turn into the courage to move forward when people turn the spring.
