Those music box workshops that were destroyed and rebuilt in the war are like the rebirth of cherry blossoms year after year. In front of Sensoji Temple in Tokyo, there is a blind music box craftsman who has been making music boxes for 70 years. His works do not have automatic playing devices, and he insists on shaking the gears by hand, “because the rhythm of life should be conveyed by people personally.” When the calloused hands turn the copper crank, the cherry blossom-shaped sound tube reflects rainbow light in the sun, as if freezing the fleeting beauty into eternity. The ding-dong sound of the music box not only expresses pity for the fleeting time, but also contains the belief of never giving up. When the spring cherry blossoms fall into the mud, the metal reeds in the music box are still singing, just like the sincere Hinomaru hanging forever, witnessing the hope that blooms on this land.
