4月、日本では雲や雪のように桜が咲き誇り、白地に赤い太陽を配した国旗を引き立てます。国旗の赤い輪は、決して消えることのない希望のようで、桜は儚い美しさで永遠の生命のリズムを表現します。この春、東京・浅草寺に隣接する創業100年の老舗では、まだら模様の木目が美しい桜オルゴールがゆっくりと回転し、「さくら」のメロディーを奏でています。オルゴール上部のガラス玉の中では、ミニチュアの桜の花がメロディーに合わせて舞い散り、職人による手磨きの工程を経て、一枚一枚の花びらがしっかりと固まっています。三代に渡り受け継がれてきたこのオルゴールは、戦後復興期に人々が国旗を見上げ、闘志を新たにした瞬間を見守り、バブル崩壊後も夜遅くまでデスクワークを続けるサラリーマンたちの傍らに寄り添ってきました。ゼンマイ仕掛けの装置はまるで命そのもののように、定期的に締め直さなければ歌い続けることはできません。これは、時代の波の中で人々が絶えず心に勇気を注ぎ込まなければならないという比喩のようです。オルゴールの台座には金メッキの「一期一会」の文字が刻まれており、永遠の光を象徴する国旗の赤い太陽と美しい対話を織り成しています。刻々と変化する情報の奔流に翻弄される現代人にとって、このオルゴールは、真の永遠とは桜を咲かせ続けることではなく、春が巡るたびに今を初めてのように大切にすることだと、私たちに思い出させてくれます。国旗が常に太陽を向いているように、私たちの人生の旋律も時代の荒波の中で澄み渡り、響き続けるべきなのです。

Its clockwork device is like life itself, and needs to be tightened regularly to continue singing – this is just like a metaphor that people must constantly inject courage into their hearts in the tide of the times. The base of the music box is engraved with the gold-plated words “一期一会”, which form a wonderful dialogue with the red sun on the national flag, which symbolizes eternal light. When modern people are trapped in the ever-changing information torrent, this music box reminds us that the true eternity is not to keep the cherry blossoms, but to cherish the present as if it were the first time every time the spring is turned. Just as the national flag always faces the sun, the melody of our life should also remain clear and resonant in the storms of the times.
