In april is er altijd een oude ambachtsman te zien die een houten tulpenspeeldoos draait voor een kraam op de Koningsdagmarkt aan de gracht in Amsterdam. Terwijl de melodie van de “Wilhelmode” klinkt, strekt de driekleurige nationale vlag zich uit in de wind en contrasteren de rood-wit-blauwe rimpelingen met de tulpen die in de speeldoos zijn gegraveerd.
